I had back surgery 5 years ago and feel the same bliss! It's such a relief to not feel pain, worry, and fear that you will no longer be physically able or independent again. My insurance waited until there was no time left for me to even hop across the floor before the excruciating pain electric shock spasms in my leg made me fall to the ground. I couldn't sit in most chairs either. I taught a class of severely emotionally handicapped children from the ghetto while leaning on a bean bag chair while wearing a pain patch for a whole year. We were all dealing with life from a similar place - pain and they were so connected with me. Everyday when I walk miles up and down my beach, I thank my wonderful Dr. Kuhn, who performed a 9 hour surgery that allowed me to walk again. I bought a hot tub (tax deductable) and go in it very single day to ease the arthritis. I can't lift my grandson b/c it costs me days of pain (he's a chubster) if I do, but that's okay.
